First: From Angels of Victoria's Secret to be part of Madame Tussauds museum WAX

Adriana Lima just made history! Well, kind of. She’s the first-ever Victoria’s Secret Angel to get her own wax figure at Madame Tussauds museum. That’s pretty impressive considering the highest-paid model in the world, Gisele Bundchen, doesn’t even have her own figure!

“More than 250 detailed measurements were taken, exact hair and eye colors were matched, and the pose and facial expression of her figure were determined,” said the press release. “Adriana’s figure will be the first figure in Madame Tussauds 200+ year history, styled after one of the iconic runway looks from a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”

“As we continue to celebrate our 15th year in Times Square, it’s exciting to bring yet another first to our guests – a Victoria’s Secret Angel,” said Bret Pidgeon, General Manager of Madame Tussauds New York.

Victoria's Secret Wings

The large angel wings worn by the models, as well as other wings of various forms and sizes such as butterfly, peacock, or devil wings, have become emblematic of the Victoria's Secret brand. In theory, wings are any ornamental back piece worn by a model on the runway, or any sort of structural appendage resembling traditional wings.

Getting wings is a huge honour in the show, most models such as Erin Heatherton have stated that they fantasise more about wings than their wedding day. A selective amount of models, each year, are chosen to wear wings, whether they are big wings or small wings. Most feel like official angels when given their first pair of wings. Wings have become a major asset to Victoria's Secret.

Let's go through some of the highlights in the history of wings:

Adriana Lima's 70-square-feet orange wings in 2002 are the largest by area.

Heidi Klum wore the tallest Victoria's Secret wings in 2003. They were 12 feet tall.

2016 saw Lady Gaga become the first musical performer to sport wings on the runway.

In 2017, Elsa Hosk wore a 1-million-dollar Swarovski wing set.

The "Fireworks" segment in 2015 is the only real segment thus far in which every outfit featured a pair of wings.
